Key Findings
This project has developed operational definitions and measurement protocols for urban design qualities related to walkability. Physical factors (sidewalk width, street width, tree canopy, etc.) were correlated with design qualities found to be important for walkability, including imageability, visual enclosure, human scale, transparency, and complexity.
